Run file-manager now!

You can use the WWW file manager to look at your files at LITBIO. You can browse files, directories, find files, and examine individual files in detail.

You can also easily transfer files between your local machine and LITBIO.

To transfer files to your local machines, click on the file name to view it and then click on your WWW browser's File button then click on Save As...

To transfer files from your local machine to LITBIO, click on the Upload file option.

Tip: Before starting the file manager, run another application like unix so that we can pick up your user interface (whether you're using X or have java). Then you can edit and view files from the file manager.

The icons used are:

[FILE] Denotes a file. Selecting the file will view it in your browser. (There may be minor variations of this icon for special types of file.)

[DIR] Denotes a directory. Selecting the directory will show a listing of that directory.

[O-] You can click on this to find more details on the file or directory. You can rename, copy, or delete the file. In a directory, you can make a subdirectory. If we know in advance whether you have X or java you may be offered the chance to edit or view the file as appropriate.

From the file browser you can also access a directory browser. This only shows directories, not files. If you have a lot of files, this will allow you to navigate to a particular directory more easily.

You can also use the file finder to find files of a given name or that have names containing a string.
